Mandarin Immersion Program
Dual Language Mandarin Immersion (DLMI)
Both periods are 46-49 minutes each. DLMI consists of 2 periods each year.
Mandarin Language Arts 7th: This course, taught in Mandarin, focuses on using Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons and Communities to meet the world language standards. Mandarin is learned and practiced by integrating culture into the whole language instruction process. This course is also designed to help develop the essential skills of the 21st century such as presentation skill, teamwork skill and leadership skill to prepare students for their next stage of learning through assignments and in-class works.
Chinese Culture 7th: This course, taught in Mandarin, will consist of a thematic exploration of various themes including, but not limited to, holidays, festival and customs, China in the past including great historical figure, inventors, etc., and finally, China in the present including an exploration of modern media and communication.
Mandarin Language Arts 8th: This course, taught in Mandarin, focuses on using Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons and Communities to meet the world language standards. Mandarin is learned and practiced by integrating culture into the whole language instruction process. This course is also designed to help develop the essential skills of the 21st century such as presentation skill, teamwork skill and leadership skill to prepare students for their next stage of learning through assignments and in-class works.
Chinese Culture 8th: This course, taught in Mandarin, will consist of a thematic exploration of various themes including, but not limited to the culinary arts of China, science and technology and the global challenges we currently are facing etc., and finally, the rise of China as an important actor on the global stage and the opportunities and challenges it brings to the global community.
